About Daniels Lake Lodge

"Fantastic, serene or awesome" are words guests use to describe our setting and view. We (Karen and Jim) like to offer guests an Alaskan home of their own where they can relax and really experience the beauty and peace we enjoy all the time. Our lodge is in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle but close to many activities. We give you ample privacy but are available to help you.

It all started in 1984 when Karen opened two rooms with a shared bath in the ground level of her house. Jim asked Karen to marry him in 1993. Of course I (Karen) said yes!

That summer, we started building log cabins to offer private accommodations for guests from honeymooners to family reunions.

It is mind boggling how we have been blessed to purchase neighboring land. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined living on 11+ acres in such a wonderful setting.

Daniels Lake covers 621 acres, has 10 miles of shoreline. It is "T" shaped, the east-west leg is 2 miles long, the north south one a little less. Our 11 acres is in a cove at one end, our view looks down one leg of the "T". The lake is spring fed, creates Daniels creek that empties into Bishop Creek which empties into Cook Inlet about 6 miles north of us in Captain Cook State Recreation Area. Salmon follow the creeks to spawn along the shoreline next to our lawn in later Summer to Fall.

Daniels Lake is surrounded by private property, has no public access therefore is usually very quiet. For example, one fourth of July, we went out to test a new motor and saw about 8 mostly very small water craft. They weren't even visible from our property.

Daniels Creek gives rainbow trout a place to spawn and there is plenty of fish food from salmon eggs, tiny stickleback fish and bugs so it has a healthy population of native rainbow trout. If you would like to explore we offer canoe, peddle boat or rowboat for free. Guests may also rent a motorboat with trolling motor. We also have fishing rods sized for the rainbow trout. If you own good fishing reels but don't want to transport a rod, you could pack your reel to put on one of our rods for your time here.

Accommodations include four log cabins, some right on the lake to enjoy the view and wildlife. Every cabin has a private deck with BBQ, kitchen, bathroom with shower and whirlpool tub. Each cabin is unique. We didn't want cookie cutter cabins in a row for our guests.

Many guests have used our place as a home base and had a chance to get good rest when they needed it. We're open year round. One of the things we have enjoyed over the years is helping folks discover our area of Alaska. We will be tickled to help you with your questions.

We offer trip planning and discounts whenever we can obtain them. Let us know what we can do for you.
